The disclosure of NSA’s surveillance programs has shaken the trust of customers around the globe and undermined US Tech and European Privacy laws. Leading data storage providers have been left in a tough spot and they are scrambling for alternative means of privacy. One of the emerging challenge for today’s IT departments are not only the key factors in determining security strategies to protect the data from hackers, but also how they can secure the data from erasure or unauthorized access from government agencies. Recently, the European Court of Justice (CJEU) has ruled out that U.S. based companies will no longer be considered safe for commercial movement of personal data and this has led to the emergence of new privately held hosting servers and the development of cryptosystems.
