On November 13th and 14th I attended the International Research Networks 2nd Annual Energy Trading Operations & Technology Summit, which was held at the Renaissance Houston Greenway Hotel in Houston, Texas. It was great to see so many ZE PowerGroup clients, prospective clients and strategic partners in attendance. The ETOT 2012 agenda included speaker topics addressing Dodd Franck legislation and how it has impacted both operational and technological processes from transaction reporting, enterprise data strategies, exemption reporting and margin requirements. From a technology perspective, the ETOT event covered data considerations between company mergers, system selection and integration, componentization of ETRM platforms and automation procedures.
This year’s event provided a good networking forum where energy companies, financial entities and software solution providers could interact and discuss the latest initiatives and concerns in our market.
Arun Karur, Head of Global Commodities at Sapient Global Markets, delivered a good presentation on the future of E/CTRM systems and how to understand the current offering landscape. William Markham, Chief Account Executive at Newedge, had an enthralling presentation on assessing new opportunities for further automation of the trade lifecycle. James Yu, Founder Managing Director at Willis Group Consulting, discussed measures to mitigate risk within compliance technology projects.
Deutche Bank’s, Maria Perny, Global Head of CTB, Core Processing & Strategic Execution, GBS Commodities and The CME Group’s, Tom LaSala, Managing Director & Global Chief Regulatory Office, had excellent presentaions around “Operation Risk Strategies” and “Regulatory Position Limits and Markets” respectively.
I look forward to the next IRN summit. For more information on ZE and ZEMA Suite click here.
