Last week’s Boston Lunch & Learn about “Data Management Trends and Challenges for Eastern Energy and Commodities Markets” unfolded as a fantastic event with a strong representation from energy, ETRM and data management participants within the Boston area.  The event was co-hosted by our partners Allegro Development, Argus Media, IIR Energy, Interactive Data, MDA EarthSat and Opportune.  The use cases presented by Tim Hebert (Energy New England) and Alexander Zhukovsky (National Grid) highlighted the unique value proposition individual clients see in the ZEMA solution. There were also notable discussion points around the concept of Big Data, and speakers provided an interesting scope of where energy sits within the data management complex.  Although the needs of the energy community within the data world are pressing, and issues of timely aggregation and distribution are key, it is not a Big Data world, such as in biotechnology.  It is however, a world where data timeliness, completeness and validation are hypercritical.  Data criticality brings its own architectural challenges.

Another highlight of the event was the lively ball game at Fenway Park, where ZE and our fellow workshop participants enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox defeat the Florida Marlins.

ZE continues to be pleased to lead the charge of providing data management and ETRM integration events for our colleagues in the energy and commodities industry.  Our next event will be hosted in conjunction our partner, Willis Group Consulting, and will be held in Houston in August.  The focus will be on the new Dodd-Frank legislation and the Dodd-Frank Technology Solution we are offering.
